Paragliding in Lima. Why can only birds
enjoy the incredible landscapes that surround the city?
In Peru you can practice paragliding
in Lima and other places, where the geographical conditions are suitable for
takeoff and launch. In any place you will enjoy magnificent views, the freedom
to fly and even if you do this activity only once, you will never forget it.
Paragliding is one of the extreme
adventure sports most practiced in Miraflores. The place indicated is the
Raimondi park, on the Costa Verde of the district of Miraflores, where the
parapuerto is for the takeoff landing. You can have spectacular views of the
city, the Larco Mar shopping center, the Miraflores cliff, the beach and the
Pacific Ocean. The practice of paragliding is linked to the quality of the
winds; If there is not much wind, the takeoff will not be possible.
In Lima, when the paragliding is done
in Miraflores, you fly up to 10 minutes and ascend to the maximum height of 250
meters. In Lurín, 40 minutes from Lima, they are practiced in sand dunes; the
maximum height is 50 meters and the type of flight is descending; for 5
minutes. In Pachacámac, at kilometer 35 to the south of Lima, the thermodynamic
flight and the maximum height of 1000 meters are available. In Pasamayo, two
hours from Lima, at kilometer 55 of the Panamericana Norte, for people with
experience in paragliding, it reaches heights above 1000 meters and is
characterized as a dynamic flight. Finally, in the San Cristóbal hill, through

history.

In Paracas, the paraport is near the
Cathedral, a large rock formation caused by the erosion of the sea and the
wind; the take-off point is only 20 meters, the ascending band formed when the
wind hits the slope and is deflected upwards, allows gradual lifting. You can
reach more than 300 meters in height during the flight.
The flight time is between 10 to 15
minutes, although you can hire up to 25 or 30 minutes. Paragliding can be
practiced all year round, but depends on the weather conditions for a good
flight. In Paracas the prices range between 250 and 400 soles.
In the south, an urban scenario for
paragliding is the city of Arequipa. It is suitable for those who have
experience and great physical resistance, which is needed from the moment you
start the ascent to the mountain chosen for takeoff.
In Arequipa, flights start at 5,800
masl, taking advantage of the high mountains of the province. After an hour, it
lands softly on different points within the city.
In Cusco, you also have to challenge
the challenge of the mountains. The Racchi viewpoint in the Urubamba Valley, at
3900 masl; there there is a thermal activity that allows very relaxing and
smooth stay flights.
